Marietta Davis' Vision

Another vision worth reading is that of Marietta Davis.  As far as content is concerned I would rate it at 5 stars in a 1-5 rating.  Slightly difficult reading because of the time period, style, etc., it reminds me of Jane Lead's writing.  I happened to purchase this along with Rebecca Springer's Within the Gates back in the early 80's at Christ for the Nations bookstore in Dallas. Gordon Lindsay edited both of these along with others in a book of collected Visions which he published in the 1950's and included George Washington's Vision.  The book of Marietta Davis' Vision was called Scenes Beyond the Grave and happened in 1848, being one of the older visions.  She fell into a 9 day "trance" as it was called by her pastor who recorded her words for later publication.  She was only 25 years old.

"I have carefully examined a book bearing the title "Scenes Beyond the Grave" purporting to be a simple narrative of scenes enacted beyond the grave, and witnessed by the spirit of a young girl while she lay entranced, as the testimony shows.  Of this I express no opinion; but fully approve of its pure and deep-toned spirit of Christianity, and sound Theology.  The Scenes are so truly depicted, and so beautifully and thrillingly told, that it cannot fail to secure the judgment, and win the confidence and affections of all who read it." -Rev. George Waller (1855). [One of several testimonies of prominent ministers living at the time of the vision]

Noteworthy in this Vision is the emotion-stirring account of the crucifixtion of Jesus, and it strikes one as being an eyewitness account rather than a Hollywood movie of it.  She also gives a most vivid and lucid account of Hell and what it is like to observe the unending repetitive hopelessness and unfulfilled desires of those in it.  (For instance, one would see a mirage constantly of fountains of water and then it would turn into flames of fire as they tried to touch it.  So-called brilliant minds would keep rehearsing their atheistic soliliquies over and over again and keep realizing it gets them nowhere.)

But the most interesting part I found was where the angels conducted her to "the orb of glories [world of glories? GLORIFIED WORLD? orbit of glorified worlds?] appearing above the intermediate scene." She was led toward the cloud of light.  Her angelic guide took her by the hand and said "these scenes we will leave and ascend to yon bright orb."  While passing the intermediate she became conscious of additional and expanded vision [sight]. The guide said,"Behold, the countless, planetary hosts. Mark the rolling orbs, suns, and systems of suns, moving in silence and harmony. The vast expanse is occupied and peopled with universes[worlds ?] constructed in infinite wisdom.  These are inhabited by holy beings, happy and immortal, though varied in degree of development and refined spirituality."

Now this speaks to me of what my Grandfather was shown of the glorified worlds (i.e., the orbs orbiting the high mountain shown below) that are already in heaven,  thousands of them.   Although the "suns and systems of suns" seems incorrect because there is no natural universe there like it says in Rev. 21:23 and Isa. 60:19-20. Only glorified worlds that are enshrouded with clouds of golden light to give constant warmth and illumination. I can see where the two separate "universes" might blend as far as what the angels can see and thus the angel showed her both "realms" together at the same time, like a double exposure.
